American Heart Heartsaver Classes
 

Intended audience:

This class is designed for people who are required by their employer to have a certification card. Examples are employees of day care, afterschool programs, summer camps and sports coaching staff.

Description:

Topics include how to approach an injured child; rescue breathing; how to help a choking child; asthma; medical emergencies such as seizures, and what to do for burns.  Skills practices include finding the medical problem; rescue breathing; how to relieve choking, and how to use an epinephrine pen.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid may be combined with Heartsaver CPR or Heartsaver CPR/AED

Student to instructor ratio: 6:1

Class fee: $50.00 - $90.00 Price dependent on components

Approximate class length: 3 ½ to 8 hours depending on selected components

Written exercises are completed during class. There is no pass/fail test at end of class.

Certification is good for two years.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.
