Intended audience:

This class is intended for people who are required by their employer to have a certification card. Examples include people who work in group homes, work with
the elderly, child care providers, first responders in business and people who work in restaurants.

Description:

Basic First Aid topics include: how to check an injured victim; what to do for bleeding; how to care for bone, muscle and joint injuries; what to do for medical emergencies such as a severe allergic reaction, and what to do for heat or cold related injuries.  Basic First Aid includes hands-on practice. Skills include: emergency action steps; recovery position; controlling bleeding; how to stabilize an injured arm or leg, and what to do for a suspected neck injury.

Student materials: Student Handbook will be provided during class

Student to instructor ratio: 10:1

Class fee: $50.00 Price will vary if other components such as CPR are added.

Approximate class length: 3-4 hours for just First Aid. Class may be tailored to include all age groups. Length of class will change if other components are added.

Skills test and a written exam are required to pass the course.

Certification cards are issued the day of the class and are good for three years. Note that CPR cards are good for two years.
